Finding the Truth: The Making of "Kramer vs. Kramer" |
|
|
A documentary filmed for the DVD release in early 2001, "Finding the Truth" features commentaries by director Robert
Benton and producer Stanley Jaffe, author Avery Corman and the stars Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep, Justin Henry and Jane
Alexander. It's an in-depth look on how the roles were cast and how the movie was shot with insightful information and
anecdotes.
"I first heard about it through my agent who knew that I was greedy to work and I was playing in Central Park in "The
Taming of the Shrew", free Shakespeare in Central Park, and I was shooting Woody Allen's movie, too. But my agent sent me
up anyway because I only had two weeks to shoot on Woody's movie and he sent me to Stanley Jaffe, who said: 'How do you
think you can... you can't shoot someone else's movie and be in a play and be in our movie, this is a very important movie'
And I said, 'Yeah, but I just have a little bit part, I'm just in the very beginning and the very big end, and, you know,
if you work it around I can work on Woody's movie in the middle. I was a repertory actress, means you work on a lot of
different places at the same time and I thought I could do it". (Meryl Streep)
