Honour is a 1995 play by the Australian playwright Joanna Murray-Smith, telling the familiar tale of a middle aged man, George (Sam Waterston), who leaves his wife, Honour (Meryl Streep), and their twenty-four year old daughter, Sophie, for a relationship with a much younger women. In a special reading at Vassar College, helmed by director Ulu Grosbard, the play was read by actors Sam Waterston as George and Meryl Streep as Honour. A year later, the play celebrated its Broadway premiere, starring Jane Alexander and Laura Linney.
