Meryl Streep is probably the greatest actress of my generation. I have seen most of her movies and TV specials.
I fully agree with Jane, “the greaest privilege is to look at the entire landscape of characters Meryl has travelled through the years and to appreciate it as a whole because each preformance reveals another aspect of her talent and all of them together form a beautiful picture.”

I haven’t seen One True Thing yet but i want to see it soooo bad. I think I’m gonna rent it on netflix. Is it good?

I really love all her movies so it was REALLY hard to pick. She is great in everything!

I`ve been seeing all Maryl`s movies and it`s really hard to make a rank (but I will try)
I think that Sophie`s Choice is out of competition!! Sophie is the best performance ever!!

1) Francesca in “The bridges of Madison County”

2)Helen Archer in “Ironweed”

3) The two Karen (Karen von Blixen and Karen Silkwood) in “Out of Africa” and Silkwood

4) Joanna in “Kramer vs Kramer” (the first scene when she say goodbye to her kid is the best ever!!)

5) Kate in “One true thing”

6) Julia in “Julie and Julia”

I must confess that i haven`t seen “A cry in the dark” yet, I will do it now and maybe my rank changes.

Sophie’s Choice, hands down. Perhaps the greatest performance of any actor, ever. The year the movie came out, it played at a tiny theater in Ann Arbor, MI for several months straight – the only show there. I saw the movie 17 times, approximately once a week. I’ve never seen a movie that many times before or since, at a theater. Meryl transported me to another world in that film. Heartbreaking and unforgettable.

First of all I have also loved the Meryl Streep movie reviews each week. It’s also great to read other fans comments as it make me feel better that I’m not the only one in love with the women and her performances.

I do have a lot of her DVD so I’m just going to go with films that I seem to watch over and over again as my favourite.

She is such a strong, positive women and I love the fact that I get moved while watching her perform. Meryl, keep them coming.

This is really hard, I could never ever pick a favourite performance and also, like Manuel said, I can think of some great moments, like the dial tone scene in Adaptation which is absolute master class in my opinion.
But favourite performance… boy, there are so many… She is phenomenal in Silkwood and A Cry in the Dark, she’s hilarious in Postcards, and of course just wonderful in Bridges. I like the River Wild and Marvin’s Room and I have to say I also enjoyed Death becomes her quite a lot. I absolutely loved her in One True Thing which is a fantastic movie. I love her singing in A Prairie Home Companion and Mamma Mia. I think she was fantastic in The Iron Lady and I also think that the movie is really good. The last film to be mentioned is Hope Springs which I love for its honesty and subtlety, I can’t wait to see it again.

I think the greatest privilege is to look at the entire landscape of characters Meryl has travelled through the years and to appreciate it as a whole because each performance reveals another aspect of her talent and all of them together form a beautiful picture. Just as they say: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
