Yesterday, Meryl was in attendance in Poltu Quatu, Sardegna, Italy, to receive the 2010 Rodolfo Valentino Award. Clips of her acceptance speech can be now watched in the video archive, with thanks to Nora & Tina.
The Rodolfo Valentino award is given each year by a jury of critics to movie personalities who have success all over the world. The winners of 2010, Meryl and Andy Garcia, join a selected group of outstanding personalities, including Pedro Almodovar, Robert Altman, Bernardo Berolucci, Francis Ford Coppola, Bette Davis, Jeremy Irons, Sophia Loren and Roman Polanski, among others. Pictures from the ceremony have been uploaded to the image library.

Can somebody who is or speak italian trasncript this for the rest of the world? I mean to all of us here, americans, brazilians or who knows what else nationality Meryl’s fans have. Because I had a lot of fun watching it even just trying to hear her without the italian translator.

I was in Sardinia too!! She was wonderful…I’m speechless!!
@ALI she said she was pregnant with Henry in Sardinia during the honeymoon in a campsite, and that she probaply has forgotten the Oscar in the bathroom because she was pregnant again!

the brilliant Meryl deserved this, as she deserves every award she gets! Wish I could hear it without the italian translator though…very hard to hear. Love that she spoke a little italian though!!

As I said when she won the award that she deserved, now I add that I´m amazed the way she looks, it´simply Streep, nobody can look as god as her than her, no way, she was chosen for this, I don´t know how she does it but, boy, she is like a brethe of fresh air a ray of sun lith, when she appears, the way she talks.

I’m Italian and I saw the show on television Sunday night and Meryl was wonderful. Meryl was very funny and talked a little in Italian! The other winning actress adored Meryl and one of them when she spoke with her was almost crying! The show was on the channel RAI 1!!!
