GOLDEN GLOBES 2005 (CONGRATULATIONS, NATALIE :-)
Posted: 2005-01-17 | Source: Webmaster

Hope you've all enjoyed the Golden Globes last night and Meryl's short appearance. It's a real mystery that there are no photos of her, it seems that she missed the red carpet. Anyway, I've added several photos, submitted by Mariana, plus an exlusive video clip from her presentation. You're also welcome to discuss the Globes in the Forum. And finally, crongatulations to yet another nomination. The British Academy (BAFTA) has nominated Meryl's performance in "The Manchurian Candidate" in the Best Supporting Actress category. She's nominated alongside Cate Blanchett (The Aviator), Heather Craney (Vera Drake), Julie Christie (Finding Neverland) and Natalie Portman (Closer). The BAFTA's are handed out on February 12, 2005. Good luck! Check out all other nominees here.

PREMIERE MAGAZINE INTERVIEW
Posted: 2005-01-14 | Source: Webmaster

There's a tiny interview with Meryl in the February 2005 issue of Premiere Magazine, featured in an article on the best performances of 2004. Thanks to Mariana for sending it to me :-) Here's what Meryl said:

How did you prepare for your role as Eleanor Shaw?
There is a kind of generic female politician look, the pastel suit, the earrings, necklace, pin, the bubble/no trouble hair - see Karen Hughes, Elizabeth Doyle, Lynne Cheney, Hillary Clinton - that was an early inspiration, but finding the demeanor involved imagining Tom DeLay in the above getup.

What was it like working with director Jonathan Demme?
Jonathan has the reputation of being a sweetheart - he'll probably hate to hear that, but he does have an almost tender way with his actors. He also has an eerie attentiveness to absolutely everything going on on the set, like an all-directional antenna that picks up 360 degrees of details.

Was it fun being in a paranoid thriller?
What's paranoid about it?
