ROBERT REDFORD DENIES TOM CRUISE COLLABORATION
Posted: 2006-10-28 | Source: Webmaster

This is how fast a movie rumor can be cleared up ;-) According to Access Hollywood, there's no collaboration between Robert Redford and Tom Cruise for the reported "Lions for Lambs" (see below): So much for a Tom Cruise – Robert Redford collaboration. Earlier this week, Variety reported that Cruise was considering three films for his next project, with one of them being an indie film called "Lions for Lambs." "Lions" was described as a political drama that follows a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. Cruise would play a congressman alongside Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. Redford would also likely direct, according to Variety. However, at an event endorsing California's Prop 87 initiative on Wednesday, the Sundance kid rained on Variety's parade, dispelling the rumors he was teaming up with Tom. "Forget it. Don't listent to the trades," Redford told Access Hollywood, adding there "just isn't anything to talk about." No word if the project - in which Meryl was reported to co-star - is planned anyway. The full article can be found here here.

STREEP, REDFORD, CRUISE IN TALKS FOR "LIONS FOR LAMBS"
Posted: 2006-10-24 | Source: Webmaster

According to Variety, Tom Cruise may be ready to get back to work. Cruise is looking at three pics: two from majors (Warner Bros. and Fox), and one that's being mobilized independently. The indie appears to be the favorite: "Lions for Lambs," a political drama revolving around a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. Scripted by Matthew Carnahan ("State of Play"), the project is shaping up with Robert Redford likely to direct as well as play a role. This is of course not official - as the article states at the end: There are no guarantees on any pic. In February, Cruise looked seriously at a trio of films, none of which he took. The full article can be read here.

STONE, PITT, BROADBENT ADDED TO "DIRY TRICKS" CAST
Posted: 2006-10-21 | Source: Webmaster

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors Sharon Stone, Jim Broadbent and Brad Pitt will join Meryl Streep, Annette Bening and Gwyneth Paltrow in the upcoming "Dirty Tricks". Here's the related article: Former lovers Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow are reuniting on the big screen for a feature film about former US President Richard Nixon. The couple, who were engaged in 1996, previously starred together in the thriller Seven. Nip/tuck director Ryan Murphy has also just cast, Sharon Stone and Jim Broadbent in Dirty Tricks. The film also features Meryl Streep playing Martha Mitchell, the wife of Nixon's Chief of Staff John Mitchell. Paltrow will play Maureen Dean, who stood by her husband John, another member of the Nixon team, as the administration slowly sank into scandal, according to moviehole.net. Annette Bening, who is starring in Murphy's upcoming film Running With Scissors along with Paltrow, will play a White House correspondent who received leaked information. Murphy says, "It's about the women in Watergate, it's very different than Ron Howard's upcoming Frost/Nixon." "I love Ron Howard's movie. That was about what a nightmare Nixon was to get the rights for the (David) Frost interview and the negotiations back and forth for that." "But that movie is really about a woman who said our government is corrupt, and 'Why is no one believing me? Why is no one seeing that this Tricky Dicky Nixon is insane?'" "I also think it's the perfect time to make this movie. We'll shoot in the fall and put it out next fall."
