While there's still no word if "Dark Matter" will be getting a theatrical or direct-to-DVD release, the film starring Meryl Streep and Aidan Quinn will be screened at the San Diego Asian Film Festival on October 13, 2007. The San Diego Asian Film Festival has announced its eighth season, taking place at the Mission Valley UltraStar Cinema at Hazard Center, October 11-18, 2007. The festival's Spotlight film stars Meryl Streep and Aidan Quinn in Dark Matter, a powerful, stunning thriller based on the true story of Liu Xing, a foreign exchange student from China who turned to violence in the face of academic ruin. Additionally, here are two new production stills from the film. Many thanks to Frank for the heads-up.

Posted: 2007-09-13 | Source: Webmaster

Hollywood stars including Tom Cruise, Robert Redford and Meryl Streep are expected to attend the 51st London Film Festival next month, organisers said Thursday. The trio are due at the world premiere of "Lions For Lambs", a political thriller directed by Redford and also starring Cruise and Streep which explores the impact of war through entwined plots in Afghanistan and the United States. The movie, the latest in a wave of upcoming films about the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan including "In the Valley of Elah" and "Grace is Gone", will get its first screening on October 22. Opening and closing the festival will be David Cronenberg's new film "Eastern Promises" and Wes Anderson's "The Darjeeling Limited".

"RENDITION" COVERAGE FROM THE TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL
Posted: 2007-09-13 | Source: Webmaster

"Rendition" has had its world-premiere at this year's Toronto Film Festival, and although Meryl did not attend the event by herself, she has been positively mentioned in lots of reviews of "Rendition", describing her character as a CIA officer as "a terrifically chilly performance" (The Star). The New York Post even counts her in for a 15th Oscar nomination: "There are a lot of impressive things about Gavin Hood's "Rendition", One of them is Meryl Streep, who looks like she may break the record for Oscar nominations with her supporting performance as an icy State Department official who orders that an Egyptian native who has lived in the U.S. for 20 years be whisked away to another country for no-holds-barred interrogation because he's suspected of having connections to a terrorist. "This is my first torture," she's told by an inexperienced CIA analyst (Jake Gylenhaal) who is called up to observe the procedures. "Honey, this is nasty business," Meryl tells him. Reese Witherspoon plays the suspect's pregnant wife, who, desperate to know her husband's whereabouts, confronts Streep in a memorable scene".

Further, here's a scene with Meryl and Peter Saarsgard in "Rendition". It can be downloaded in the video archive.

LAUNCH OF THE NEW IMAGE LIBRARY
Posted: 2007-09-01 | Source: Webmaster

A project I had in the works for a long time now has finally launched, an improved and new version for the Image Library that's better to navigate and easier on the eye. While much of the old gallery categories still need to be converted there's already tons of new stuff to discover, the television films category has been updated with new caps from all of her films, including all chapters of "Angels in America" and "Holocaust". The career category will be quickly filled with new screencaps, production stills and behind the scenes footage. All magazine scans have been uploaded, there are lots of new captures from her appearances on talkshows, documentaries and ceremonies. Also, lots of quality pictures from her appearances at events, award shows and premieres. The "old" Image Library will remain online, so there won't be any error pages or pictures missed, until the new one is fully updated, so everything can be accessed and nothing got lost ;-) And now, head over and enjoy all the new stuff and the improved Image Library!
