"LIONS FOR LAMBS" TO BE RELEASED ON DVD APRIL 8
Posted: 2008-01-30 | Source: Webmaster

Does Leaving Theaters Like A Lamb Mean Hitting DVD Like A Lion? "Lions for Lambs" suffered from an onslaught of political/war-themed movies in 2007, and an audience that didn’t really want to see them. Add on top of that the general feeling that Tom Cruise is still a bit overexposed, and you had a
movie that didn’t have much of a chance for its theatrical release. Now the critically acclaimed movie comes to DVD for a second chance at grabbing an audience. Starring Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Robert Redford, Lions shows the impact of the war in Afghanistan through the stories of an inspirational professor and a battle between a slick senator and a liberal journalist, all of whom have some sort of influence over two recent college graduates serving in the war. The DVD, being released April 8th, includes a feature-length commentary from Redford, as well as featurettes looking at the making of the movie, the process of moving the film “From Script to Screen,” and the legacy of United Artists.

Posted: 2008-01-22 | Source: Webmaster

In an interview with the movie website ComingSoon.net, actor Stanley Tucci mentioned his and Meryl's involvement in the announced comedy "Julie and Julia". The film hasn't been officially announced yet, but this at least sounds quite official :-) Thanks to Gabriel for the heads-up!

What are you working on now? Are you still shooting "The Lovely Bones" with Peter Jackson?
Tucci: Yeah, I'm still shooting "The Lovely Bones." I leave on Thursday or Friday to go to New Zealand to finish it. We had been shooting in Pennsylvania and then I come back in about a month and then I do this movie with Nora Ephron and Meryl Streep. ("Julie and Julia," about the life of celebrity chef Julia Child.) I can't wait. She asked me. She said, "I want you to play my husband."

SINGING AND DANCING, STREEP AND BROSNAN A MAJOR TREAT IN '08
Posted: 2008-01-08 | Source: Webmaster

Article courtesy The Inquirer: A Caped Crusader, Iron Man, a Narnian Prince, Indiana Jones, Rambo, James Bond and Incredible Hulk are in your 2008 movie horizon. There is also a Dancing Queen and that is Meryl Streep, no less, as Donna in the film adaptation of Mamma Mia!, one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history. Shaping up to be the perfect alternative to the upcoming testosterone-heavy films, "Mamma Mia!," which features the popular ABBA songs, is the first movie musical of the divine Meryl Streep. Meryl gave us a hint of her singing talent in such films as "A Prairie Home Companion" and "Postcards from the Edge." The multi-awarded actress, as the lead of a defunct band (Donna and the Dynamos) who runs a taverna on a Greek island, gets to do full-blown singing and dancing numbers in the screen version of the feel-good musical that has been seen by over 30 million people in more than 160 cities around the world. "Mamma Mia!" promises another major treat: Pierce Brosnan, former James Bond, lets loose, croons and hoofs it up as Sam, one of the three ex-boyfriends of Meryl's Donna. Read the full article here.
