Into the Woods Official Academy Members Screening

December 08, 2014 | Los Angeles, USA

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences hosted a screening and Q&A at the Academy Theater in New York on December 9. Among the panelists for the Q&A were director Rob Marshall, actors Meryl Streep and Anna Kendrick, writer James Lapine, cinematographer Dion Beebe and editor Wyatt Smith. Streep talked about learning to sing the songs techincally without her own emotions interfering:

I thought, ‘I’ll just practice the songs’. But I’m an actor who tries to sing and so feeling through the music was tricky because I got moved and then my voice would stop and choke. So I had to kind of shut down and musically bring my voice to where it could, physically deliver the song. And then I could play with it.
