    Looove her dress :-*

the help winning best cast discredits all the wins last night because no way is it winning best picture at the Oscars its going to be The Artist, that being said, I count the Golden Globes higher and Meryl has to win the Oscar!

  • Liz

I am sad she didn’t win, but she looked great and did such a super job of the memoriam segment, welled-up eyes and all. I’m sure she is totally delighted for Viola. All we an do is keep the prayers coming and the fingers crossed for the Oscars. She soooo deserves it!!

  • lindi

Agree with you Grace, what a wise gal

  • Riduan Ismail

She will win the Oscar, believe me ;)

  • Jane

I’m sad, too although it wasn’t really a surprise. I doubt that she will win the Oscar now but I’d be thrilled to be wrong. This really feels like a deja-vu and it’s kind of frustrating that everything seems to come to the same pattern every year but I agree with Grace, you said it perfectly.
We know why we love her!

  • charlotte

she looked amazing , keep our hopes up streepers theres always the oscars finger crossed

  • Charlie

Lauren, Kate Winslet also won the SAG that year, just in a different category. A SAG win is a very good predictor in acting categories but by no means definitive

  • Charlie

That’s true Grace, that’s how to think of it but we must also remember that Meryl gave one of the most incredible performances ever seen in cinema and whilst Viola was really great in The Help, it just doesn’t compare.

And yes, Meryl has won before, but she has also been left behind so many times it must be embarrassing. It’s clear from what she says that she would love to win again and it’s just not fair to award someone for reasons other than the quality of their performance.

  • Grace

To be honest I was kind of mad at Viola for winning instead of Meryl. But when I watched her acceptance speech I realized that’s just stupid and childish. She is very sweet and mentioned Meryl in a very nice way. They’re friends and if Meryl is happy for her, so am I. Besides, she is a very good actress, The Help was a great movie and perhaps this is her time. You know, this really is her dream come true and Meryl has already had that. So why not be gracious? After all that’s the Meryl Streep-way to deal with things ;)

  • Frederik

@ Charlie: It’s her agent, Kevin Huvane.

  • Charlie

GUTTED! But she looked amazing, so beautiful. Stupid question, but who is she with on red carpet? I recognise him but cant remember!? x

  • Sonja

I’m not surprised she didn’t win.
She has lead all the way for Viola Davis with her acceptance speech three years ago, and I’m sure she’s very very happy for Viola. 8)

  • lauren

this doesnt mean she wont win the oscar because when meryl won the sag for doubt kate winslett still won the oscar! plus george clooney didnt win best actor either and he has won all of the awards so far!

  • gemma macatangay

hope she win the oscar? its time for her to win again!

  • Riduan Ismail

I think she’s gonna win the Oscar ;)

  • Carolina

I cannot believe that viola beat Meryl Streep. Meryl is far too classy and talented to put others down like viola and far too classy to campaign for herself. This is so stupid.

  • Charlie

Cannot believe she lost. Her performance was by far the best. I’m guessing there is so much peer jealously in her way.

  • Wendy

My god! She is amazing and her dress are the best!

  • Amanda

I am too! I just started… has it already showed her?!

  • Krissia

    GO MERYL!!!!

  • Rebecca

Red Carpet on live on E! network, watching now!!
