Another wonderful addition to the archives – one I have been looking for ages to finally add to the site: Meryl Streep’s second and final appearance on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show”. After promoting “Marvin’s Room” on the show in 1997, Meryl returned to Rosie’s Halloween-themed episode with a pumpkin (bearing a striking resemblance to Clint Eastwood) and talked about the theatrical release of “Music of the Heart”. The interview can be found in the video archive. Screencaptures have been added to the photo gallery.

Here comes a great find we probably didn’t even know existed. In 1984, Meryl Streep on the Norwegian TV-aksjonen, an annual national charity fund raising event, which highlights a different organization each year. 40 years ago, Amnesty International was their chosen organization, and Meryl Streep attended various events and a concert in Oslo. By the end of the fundraiser, 81 NOK millions, which equals 24.9 USD millions today, have been collected. A couple of pictures can be found in the 1984 albums for her public appearances. The Norwegian channel NRK has uploaded Meryl’s interview on TV-aksjonen, which is wonderful to watch. You can find the link below. Screencaptures have been added to the photo gallery.

Here’s another fantastic find for the archives. In the September 28, 1981, programme of “Film 81 with Barry Norman”, the BBC took us behind the scenes of “The French Lieutenant’s Woman”, which was released in the United Kingdom the following month. Besides some amazing footage from the filming, the segment also featured interviews with Karel Reisz and Jeremy Irons on the set, both reminiscing on working with “America’s greatest new star” Meryl Streep – as well as an interview with Meryl herself, conducted in London for the film’s release. The entire programme can be found in the video archive. Screencaptures have been added to the photo archive.

A couple of few, but rare production stills have been added to the archives. The oldest find comes from the 1975 National Playwrights Conference rehearsal for “Dead and Never Called Me Mother”. There’s also a wonderful on-set picture from the filming of “Ironweed”, showing Streep and Nicholson out of character with author William Kennedy and his wife. The most recent find is a fantastic promotional still of Dee Dee Allen from “The Prom”. Enjoy the new editions and have a nice weekend everybody.

With the recently announced actor’s strike, we’re not going to see any promotional appearances in the coming weeks or months, which will definately affect next month’s premiere of “Only Murders in the Building”. We’ll see how this turns out. So in the meantime, let’s get used to our “From the Archives” category, which is keeping the site active throughout the year. A great big batch of additional public appearances pictures from 2001-2003 have been added – covering the timespan of Meryl’s “comeback” in the early 2000s with both “Adaptation” and “The Hours”. Can’t believe this is already more than 20 years ago. Enjoy the new additions and have a wonderful weekend.

We’re exactly one month away from the premiere of “Only Murders in the Building”‘s third season, so fingers crossed there’ll be some new promotion ahead of us. In the meantime, a couple of past television appearances and promotional interviews have been updated with better resolution screencaptures, including most of her visits to “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. There are also screencaptures from her early appearances on “The View” – in various degrees of quality. They all came from compilations to celebrate the show’s recent anniversary, I’m afraid we’ll never be able to see those interviews in full. Some great finds to complete the archives nevertheless. On we go with our extensive picture update, this time covering most of the 1980’s. Among the highlights are pictures from the commencement speeches at Vassar College and Yale University (they were also sorted correctly – most pictures I always mixed together because the commencements took place on consecutive days) as well as the 1985 commencement at Lafayette College. There are also some fantastic pictures from the 1988 Academy Awards – one of the few occasiations she skipped the red carpet. Enjoy the new additions.
