In my opinion, if Meryl doesn´t win this time, the Academy turns ridicolous!

  • Kathryn

I live in the UK and the first thing I saw when I walked out of my door this morning was a double decker bus with Meryl’s picture as the Iron Lady, I am taking this as a good sign lol Meryl has to win the Oscar, I have seen the film twice and her performance is incredible!!-she so deserves the award, It’s a travesty she has not been given one since 1983!!! She is pure class in all she does, keeping everything crossed :)

  • Kate

If Meryl doesn’t win for this performance, it’s genuinely a travesty.

´This year I´m relieved when the Oscar race is over. No matter if Viola Davis or Meryl will win this suspense is nearly unbearable!

Here is what Meryl said, according to The Sun: ”When Meryl was asked if she would prefer Viola to win for her performance in The Help, she replied: “Yes, oh yes. I love her and think she’s amazing. Meryl added: “She deserves and should be at the forefront of our business.

“She’s a friend and we’ve worked together and I’m really fond of her. So we want the best for our friends. Honestly.”

    Meryl is amazing!

Oh my God! Meryl’s Winner, please!

If the Academy votes with the head Merylwill win, no doubt, if it does with the heart Viola Davis will get the statue. And I hate the element of surprise, Rooney Mara, she´s so beautifulbut I can´tfigure her out and her movie

Yesterdayevening I saw The Help. According to me there is not really one leading lady. There are three ´leading ladies´, either of them could have been nominated for ´Best (each other supporting) acctress’. Viola though has the most dramatic role, maybe that´s the reason why she has been nominated. Viola´s 11 minutes in Doubt were really impressive, but what I saw in The Help was not a lot different from that. In my opinion should her part in The Help (good movie, not original) not be a threat (at all) to the Iron Lady.

I don´t think that this means Meryl Streep hasn´t won the Oscar. The announcement came early on wednesday and I don´t think they knew then, who will be the winner.
I really hope she will win. My feeling says she will win. I don´t understand why Viola Davis should be the frontrunner.
Tom O´Neil from Goldderby has now officially switched to predict Meryl Streep for best actress! And this could mean that he has more info on what is going on in Hollywood!

  • Frederik

I don’t think that presenting an Oscar limits her chances in any way – if I remember correctly, Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock presented awards the night they won their Oscars, to name just two, so it doesn’t really say anything.

This is how it has been in the past … every time she has been asked to present, she has not won. I find the timing of this announcement ominous too — along with the previous announcement of August Osage County. Keeping my fingers crossed. She ABBAsolutely deserves to be “THE WINNER that TAKES IT ALL!

So good! I am really looking foward to see Meryl Streep at the Oscar Ceremony. She is a legend and i hope she win.

meryl should win she completely changed into margret thatcher she worked very hard on this. viola didnt have to change she only had to be herself not that hard was it . think meryl richly deserves to win good luck that golden statue must be yours.

  • Mandy

    Start thrilling countdown !!!

  • Anna

AAAArgh!!! how can I see it live from Italy? Can’t wait to see Meryl… win (I hope!!)

  • parnia

I’m so happy to hear that :)

  • M143

I guess she will present Hair and Make-up, because of Roy Helland. That’s also planned long enough before Best actress. And asking her to present a category while being nominated herself but not winning that category, would be quite embarrasing.

  • Heather

I hope this doesn’t mean that the people at the Academy know that she hasn’t won the Oscar. It worries me that the announcement was made after the final votes were in. Does anyone know when the votes are counted. However, having said that I also fear that the odds are on Viola Davis – I will be really upset if it is Viola who wins, although I suspect Meryl will be pleased.

  • Kim

    Awesome…..more Meryl. DVR worthy!!

Just got my ticket for Women in the World 2012. Going day 3 just to see Meryl!!

  • Kevin

I hate to say it, but Meryl Streep being announced as a presenter usually means she DID NOT win the Academy Award. I notice that neither Michelle Williams or Viola Davis are presenters. I have also been hearing a LOT of buzz that Michelle Williams is going to be the upset winner in the Best Actress category. I want Meryl to win, but being a nominee and then being announced as a presenter at such a late date = consolation prize and a chance for recognition by the audience for such a great performance.

  • brielle

omg I can’t wait, but do you know what time it will be on in Australia? :(

  • Rebecca

    I can’t wait!!! More Meryl!!!!

  • Carolyn

Why aren’t any of the other nominees presenting?

  • liezl

but she doesnt win when she presents. bad sign :(

  • AK

omg, that meens that we will see more of Meryl! I really cant wait much longer, and may Meryl win the best actress :))
