“The Hours” was named Best Movie of the Year by the National Board of Review, which also named Chris Cooper Best Supporting Actor for “Adaptation”. Julianne Moore was announced as Best Actress for “The Hours” (tying with her performance in “Far From Heaven”) by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, Chris Cooper also won.

According to Variety, stars from Broadway and Hollywood, including Kevin Kline, Bette Midler, Robin Williams and Meryl Streep, will take part in a one-night-only event to raise money to create the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health at New York-Presbyterian Hospital The evening is entitled “42nd & Vine … Hollywood Hits Broadway” and will be held at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Tuesday, November 12. The many performers will offer selections from Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim’s “West Side Story”.
